The story moves very fast. You do not get bored. Every scene has some action or scary moments. I liked how simple the main goal was. They just want to keep one plant alive. It feels very personal.

The Cast and Their Performances

Florence Pugh plays Dr. Elena Vance. She does an amazing job in this role. You can feel her sadness and her hope. She makes you care about a simple plant and is the heart of the whole movie.

John Boyega plays Marcus, the soldier. He is a tough guy who has given up on the world. At first, he does not care about the plant. He thinks Elena is crazy. He just wants to stay safe and follow the rules.

But his friendship with Elena changes him. Boyega plays this role with a lot of heart. He has some funny lines that make the movie lighter. He makes Marcus feel like a real person.

The two actors have great chemistry. They do not fall in love in a silly way. Instead, they build a deep trust. You believe they would risk their lives for each other.

Woody Harrelson also has a small role as Commander Drake. He is the leader of the shelter who wants to destroy the plant. Harrelson is great at playing characters you love to hate.

The Direction and Visuals

Alex Garland directed this movie. He is known for making movies look beautiful but scary. He does that again here. He makes the dusty world feel very real. The dark rooms feel cold and lonely.

Garland uses light in a very cool way. Most of the movie has gray and brown colors. But when the flower grows, the room fills with bright blue and green light. It is beautiful to watch.

The music is also very good. It is quiet when things are calm. Then it gets very loud and fast when the monsters attack. You can hear the monsters scratching on the steel walls.

What Worked and What Did Not

But the movie is not perfect. Some of the science does not make sense. How does a seed grow so fast without water? Where did it get the energy? The movie does not explain this well. You just have to believe it.

Also, the ending might upset some people. It does not answer all the questions. It leaves some things open. I liked this choice, but some of my friends wanted a clean ending.

The dialogue is mostly good, but a few lines feel a bit cheesy. Sometimes characters explain things we can already see. But the good parts are much bigger.

Should You Watch It?

Yes, you should definitely see this movie. It is one of the best sci-fi movies of 2026. It has great acting, a fun story, and amazing visuals. It looks beautiful on a big screen.
